Falcon Coffees

Falcon Coffees recognizes the incredible potential that coffee holds for positive change in the lives of tens of millions of smallholder farmers and their communities.

Falcon builds Collaborative Supply Chains, creating gathering points for farmers who are vulnerable due to their commercial and geographic isolation. By mobilizing communities, getting thousands of people to stand together, Falcon harnesses the strength of their combined production, leveraging access to international markets and connecting them to the communities around the world that drink their coffee. By buying coffee through Falcon, you touch the lives of the farmers and communities within the origin countries they work in.

Eastern Congo Initiative and Falcon Coffees have partnered to breathe life into the Democratic Republic of Congo’s coffee industry. Together we work closely to improve the quality of coffee from eastern Congo, to provide training and working capital for farmers, and to move the coffees to market for premium prices.

We have also used the power of coffee to build a radio station for the Association of Women Journalists. Mama Radio trains women to become journalists and produces radio shows that are broadcasted on 15 local community radio stations within the Democratic Republic of Congo. Based in the town of Bukavu, South Kivu province, Mama Radio was founded by Madam Chouchou, a self-taught investigative journalist, front line revolutionary and testament to the power of the human spirit. Their programs encourage audience participation and empower women to find a place of self-belief through shared experience and professional advice. Covering topics from pregnancy to farming, human rights to postnatal care, to a woman’s right to comment on politics and economics, AFEM is making heroes of women through telling their stories.

The investment from ECI and Falcon allows for AFEM to broadcast coffee training programs to the hundreds of thousands of women that grow, pick, and carry coffee every day in the Kivu Provinces.

Falcon is dedicated to continue working closely with the ECI to help support incredible people like Madam Chouchou and the team at Mama Radio. Integrating Falcon’s coffee activities with social initiatives like this creates revenue, beyond aid, and allows AFEM to stand alone as a commercially sustainable business and grow as a force for positive change.
