Chocolate That Makes a Difference

ECI has been proud to partner with Seattle-based Theo Chocolate to launch its first ever series of chocolate bars made entirely from Congolese cocoa.

ECI Founder Ben Affleck appeared on CBS Sunday Morning with Theo Chocolate founder Joe Whinney.  The segment illustrates the importance of creating a dependable export market with the partnership, in which Congolese farmers “are now selling to a chocolate company in the United States…those markets have been completely closed off to them in the past.”  The partnership is “not just aid, it’s an investment.” You can watch the full CBS segment below.

This week, together with Theo we launched an infographic illustrating the impact of this partnership.  With the infographic, it’s easy to see how your purchase of a Theo Congo bar will help transform lives in DRC.

The Theo Congo bars are available online today, and at Whole Foods stores nationwide for $4.99. The cocoa, vanilla and spicy peppers in these chocolate bars are all grown in Eastern Congo by dedicated organic farmers focused on quality and sustainability.
