Partnerships

Nespresso

The shores of Lake Kivu have always been one of the world’s great coffee regions, but a generation of conflict left the farming families there with few markets for their beans. ECI’s partner coffee farmers (like Gaudencia Mw’Hungwe, who is watching her own beans brew) teamed up with Nespresso to create a new single-origin organic coffee — and provide clean water and world-class healthcare for 80,000 people.

Theo Chocolate

ECI has partnered with Theo Chocolate, a Seattle-based company that makes premium, fair trade, organic chocolate. ECI and Theo work together with rural farmers to improve the quality and quantity of their cocoa crops, and expand their access to international markets.

Starbucks

Starbucks has partnered with ECI to develop sustainable agricultural production and help restore Congo as a key source of high quality coffee. Toward the end of 2014, Starbucks made its first purchase of coffee from farmers in eastern Congo.

Falcon Coffees

Falcon Coffees works closely with the ECI to improve quality, provide training and working capital and to move the coffees to market for premium prices.
