The Congo Farmer Trust: Investing in Congolese Ingenuity


Meet Emil Ntaminabare Batera. Emil is part of an exciting movement in eastern Congo – the revitalization of the region’s agricultural sector. Emil and his wife are coffee farmers in North Kivu, one of the world’s most fertile regions for coffee production. Every day they pick coffee beans, dry them, de-pulp them and prepare them for processing. It’s hard work, but thanks to ECI’s new program ­– The Congo Farmer Trust (CFT) – farmers like Emil are earning more money for their labor and are better able to provide their families with education and health care. Theo Chocolate Supports Fair & Sustainable Farming in DRC
Theo Chocolate has purchased over 1500 tons of cocoa from eastern Congo and they pay above market price to better support the farmers. Currently, 70% of Theo's Chocolate is sourced with cocoa from the DRC – Watch the video to learn more! 
Amani Peace Festival Showcases the Vibrancy of Goma's Art Scene
ECI was a proud sponsor of this year's Amani Festival. A day of music, art and dancing, the Amani festival displays the incredible amount of harmony and love in Goma. Check out ECI's 360 video from the event! 
A.F.C.A. Brings Congolese Coffee to the World Stage
To help promote the Congolese coffee sector, ECI attended the African Fine Coffees Association (AFCA) conference in Addis Ababa. An impactful event, it was especially heartening to see so many international players come together to support the cause of sustainable, fair coffee and gender-inclusive coffee farming. 
Supporting Women Farmers in Goma
